"But all this part of it seem remote and unessential. I found myself on Gatsby's side, and alone. From the moment I telephoned news of the catastrophe to West Egg Village, every surmise about him, and every practical question, was referred to me. At first I was surprised and confused; then, as he lay in his house and didn't move or speak, hour upon hour, it grew upon me that I was responsible, because no one else was interested-interested, I mean, with that intense personal interest to which every one has some Vague right at the end." The end even Nick had said Gatsby was alone and no one was there to be with him. Nick knew form the beginning no one was going to come and help him. Nick had said it himself "no one else was interested". The only thing everyone cared about when he was alive was his money, the free alcohol drinks at the parties, and the crazy parties itself. When Gatsby had died the money he once own was useless and empty. Just like before in the earlier blogs I did, all the men were self-center and all the women were money hungry. The ideal image Gatsby once uphold vanished when he once hit the water in the pool. That was the end, and Gatsby had blame himself knowing this moment was to come and wanted it to. |
