| "I believe that on the first night I went to Gatsby's house I was one of the few guests who had actually been invited. People were not invited-they went there. They got into automobiles which bore them out to Long Island, and somehow they ended up at Gatsby's door. Once there they were introduced by somebody who knew Gatsby, and after that they conducted themselves according to the rules of behavior associated with an amusement park. Sometimes they came and went without having met Gatsby at all, came for the party with a simplicity of heart that was its own ticket of admission." Nick's invitation was just a set up to invite Daisy with him. Gatsby had this specially delivered, because he knew Nick was related and that is also the main reason Gatsby throws amazing parties. Showing how Gatsby let anyone from West to East and to the Valley of Ashes people to come to his party just so he has that comfort that Daisy might be one of those to show up. You could see how no one cared if there poor or rich they just "conducted themselves according to the rules of behavior associated with an amusement park. Gatsby party is like the only days everyone is nice to everyone and how the women find there rich fellows. So basically its a cycle for women and rich guys in the novel, everywhere is always leading to the trap called"Money". |
